Someone please explain this FBA inventory madness!
One of my items shows sold and shipped by Amazon. ($300 item)
They have over 999+ in stock.
As a preface, we’ve only done FBA/FBM since inception. Never have done Vendor Central (1P)
Just bought a unit a week ago (sold and shipped by Amazon) and it delivered today.
When we received it, we saw stickers from our warehouse (we sticker every unit for inventory purposes) and saw that the FBA sticker on there is for a shipment we shipped a week ago to AZA4.
HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?
My first thought was "Is Amazon selling my own FBA inventory under their own offer?" But that is not the case as I did a reverse search with the tracking number into the Amazon Fulfilled Shipments report and it was not in there.
Are they stealing my inventory? How can I get a top level Amazon employee to look into this madness?

check your sku economics , check if you‘r getting paid and see how much inventory you have. Check if its the same asin you have or its a different one on their listing, check how many sellers the listing has.

Is it a used or refurbished item that Amazon can be reselling?

They’re not stealing.
They’ve likely taken a return and are selling it as their own. (But haven’t debited you for that return)
Sometimes when they located a missing inbound unit, that they’ve already compensated you for, they will sell it. It’s all in their FBA terms.
Also they probably don’t have 999+ in stock. Sometimes they don’t show stock #’s when an item carries a lead time more than a few days or if it’s being transferred between centers.

Make sure to have Amazon send you any items they deem "customer damaged". Don't allow Amazon to liquidate for 5-10% of value (of which they take yet another cut). They claim they won't sell against you if you liquidate "customer damaged" items, but I have heard so many sellers claim refurbished products are selling against them that I dont think its worth the risk IMO. Others are free to disagree or tell me why I am wrong.

I used to read about issues with "co-mingling" inventory all the time on the seller help boards. Specifically one seller would send in substandard product and it would be co-mingled and sold and shipped when another seller got an order and then they would get bad feedback, etc. Maybe Amazon is co-mingling their product with yours and yours got picked and shipped when they got an order?

That is some crazy stuff...wow... it is wild how your goods matriculated into their flow.. and do you actually have 999 inventory? or is that just a made up number on amzon's part? FBA terrifies us,
