how ddoes Amazon calculate shipping weight?

my product weighs 0.6 lbs but my shipping weight is 1.5 lbs, so i pay 5.40$ in fba fees.

Is iit based off my volumetric weight? l x w x h ? my current volumetric weight =1.5 lbs just wondering why use volumetric weight and not actual weight and how thethey calculate it

dimensional weight. or actual weight, whichever is higher. This is the way carriers charge shipping fees. So, Amazon's going to do the same.

Hi @Seller_F8QOfx6u2X0Yu,

Dominic from Amazon here. @Seller_z3XfkorVSmnEY is correct, Amazon uses dimensional weight.

Dimensional weight is used to determine your item’s product size tier and shipping weight in certain instances. After reading this article, you will be able to (1) determine whether dimensional weight is used to calculate fees for your item and (2) calculate the dimensional weight for your product. To accomplish these tasks, you should first know the unit weight, product volume, and product dimensions.

Dimensional weight is a calculation of the volumetric weight of a package, using the package’s length, width and height.

Best,

Dominic
