A New Seller question to which I do not know the Answer.

Being classified as a Experienced Seller on these threads, I was scanning the question posed by new sellers, to which no answers/replies had been posted. This made me wonder.

Are the thread users classified as New Sellers told that they will receive NO REPLIES from any Experienced Sellers who may know how to resolve their issue very quickly? It is strange that with new sellers asking simply solution questions, they have received NO replies at all.

On April 4, 2023 @Steve_Amazondid tell us why his team believe segregating the two classes of sellers is beneficial to new sellers, it sort of makes me wonder:

Are New Sellers told they will receive no insight, suggestions, solutions or history of why things are like they are on Amazon, from any Experienced seller? Or to put is in another from of light, Do New Sellers know that the blind will lead the blind?

New Sellers Group - another thread discussing the same topic. It's absolutely ludicrous not to be able to help new sellers. While some moderators may answer a few basic questions, they do not have the combined experience of veteran sellers to address the nuances of many rules and policies.

Quoting policy with links is always a good idea, but patronizing new sellers with soft fluffy words of welcome, instead of offering suggestions / advice from personal experience isn't worth a tinker's damn.

Amazon continues to poison every inch of this corporation with its silo mismanagement and it finally spilled over into the forums.

I'm thinking TPTB wanted a kinder/ gentler forum-all the long-term sellers are supposed bullies! Not that I don't sympathize but they do have SELLER UNIVERSITY which we didn't have in the old days. How many of these newbies have bothered to watch it-and it not, why?

I posed that same question in the engage-style thread started by mods (New Seller Community FAQ). It was ignored.

From the answer here, I see now that -- technically speaking -- new sellers are informed of this. If they read all of the fine print, and mull it over for a good long while, they are sort of warned. I expect that the very few who do read it all still don't quite understand.

Which means out of the total new posters to that forum section, only a small percentage will understand that the reason for no reply to their thread is because we aren't allowed to reply.

I know I brought this up a while back when I was seeing several questions go unanswered but when I tried to answer I realized that I could not.

The New Seller Group should have a banner across the top warning people that only group members (other new sellers of 18 months or less) or perhaps a few of the moderators are able to answer questions in the group. And if they want their question to be answered in their thread by some one with more experience they should NOT post it in the New Sellers Group.

But, if people are not going to read the fine print, why would we expect them to read a banner on this new forum experience since half the time it shows up and won't go away even when we do pay attention to it.

I honestly feel horrible for new sellers. Having a forum for only new sellers makes no sense at all. New sellers don't have the experience to give realistic advice to each other. Up until NSFE I used to make it a point to help new sellers out as much as I could. It took me years and a lot of questions on the old forum to learn how to do things right on here.

Amazon creates a useless forum yet even after several of us booksellers have begged, we still can't get a forum just for booksellers. They make no sense. I can't help but wonder if they get joy out of watching new sellers fail.

Maybe create two more groups ...

Experienced Sellers Group - for those with 5+ years of selling

Veteran Sellers Group - for those with 10+ years of selling

New Sellers ( 0 to 18 months ) and Up & Coming Sellers ( 18 months to 5 years ) could read in the groups but not respond or ask basic questions.

If the New Sellers Group is to help foster a positive environment for them, then the Experienced Sellers Group and Veteran Sellers Group would help foster a most robust, straight forward and open environment for the experienced and veteran sellers to deal with issues that effect our businesses in a more technical way.
