Why do you need a daily budget if it doesn't work, and Amazon can double the limits?

Two different answer from Amazon Support.Amazon

Hello from Amazon Advertiser Support,

Thank you for contacting us with your inquiries about your clicks and spend.

Amazon Ads help prevents Invalid traffic (IVT), which is defined as any potential fraudulent, involuntary, nonhuman, duplicate or otherwise illegitimate traffic. Leveraging signals from our first-party data, we deploy advanced machine learning (ML) algorithms, both in real time and retroactively, to detect and eliminate invalid traffic. These filters stop the vast majority of invalid traffic in real time.

Any instances of invalid traffic are generally removed from your click statistics the same day they occur. However, some invalid traffic takes more time to detect, we recommend waiting at least 3 days for the most accurate click data to be available before evaluating campaign performance.

Upon detection, the invalid traffic is proactively and automatically removed from billing invoices, and advertiser facing reports. If after 3 days you still observe deviation in metrics, which appear anomalous, please request a manual investigation from our Ad Support team

Also, having reviewed your account, I’ve sent customized recommendations based on machine-learning models that may help improve the performance of your ad campaigns on Amazon.

We recommend a list of new targetings that can help you drive more engagement with shoppers. This list includes new keywords or products considered highly relevant to your advertised products and can help shoppers find your ads.

Hello from Amazon Advertiser Support,

I understand you would like to report an overspend occurred on 4/20/2024 in your campaign "nj". I'm more than happy to assist you.

The daily budget amount is averaged over the course of a calendar month. On any given day you could spend less than your daily budget, or up to 100% more than your average daily budget for campaigns created after 3/27 (up to 25% for campaigns created before 3/27).

This system allows you to benefit from high traffic days. You can choose to opt-in to 100% increases on daily budget or only enable 25% increases on daily budget for all your campaigns, by going to Sponsored ads → Campaign manager → Settings. I've checked your setting and spend up to 100% is enabled.

But please note, at the end of the month you won’t spend more than the daily budget you’ve set, multiplied by the number of days in that month. Your invoice will be adjusted for any over-delivery after the second week of next month, so that you won’t be charged for any amount in excess of your monthly charging limit.

For example, if there are 30 days in the month and your daily campaign budget is 10, your spend will not exceed for that month. However, on any given day in that month, you could spend up to 25% more than your daily budget: e.g., 10 * 1.25 = 12.5. This will be balanced over the course of the month with low volume days.

Hi @Seller_K7LqHXdiKwZFk,

Tatiana from Amazon here. I can understand your confusion, especially with the two separate answers from Ads Support. I'm hoping I can help tie it all together for you and give a bit more context.

The reason you were given a response on invalid traffic and the nature of daily budgets is because both can relate to why a campaign might have exceeded clicks or budgets. Lets tackle the daily budget piece first though:

The information provided by Ads Support is accurate. Although we call this a daily budget, your budget is really averaged out over the entire month. This means that on days where you spent under your budget, those leftover funds can be reallocated toward a day where your campaigns are performing well and allowed to exceed the daily budget.

So depending on the campaign and situation, you might have exceeded your daily by 100% simply because you had budget left from lower performing days and because your campaign was performing well.

The other situation that may occur is the Invalid Traffic being counted in your overall clicks and spend. I'm not sure if this is the case for this campaign, but typically this is caught by our systems quickly and won't end up reflecting in your overall metrics or billing. Depending on how the question to support was asked, they might have thought the inquiry was regarding IVT.

However, in most cases where you are seeing clicks that are 100% over your budget, it is due to leftover budget from earlier in the month and good performance of your campaign.

I see ads support provided the IVT help page to you already, but wanted to provide the Daily Budget help page to you as well in case they didn't provide that one.

Let me know if that helps clarify things.

Tatiana
