Not Amazon. That’s for sure.

You need to update your shipping templates.

Not sure exactly what part you’re asking about?

You, the seller, choose to offer expedited shipping - or not.

If you’re an ‘individual’ seller, Amazon sets both the ‘transit times’ (how many days until it’s delivered?) and how much the buyer pays.

If you’re a ‘professional’ seller (39.99 monthly fee), then you set both your transit times, and shipping costs.

Once the buyer places their order and pays the expedited shipping fee, then you have to pay whatever the cost is to deliver the item to the buyer by the delivery date promised.

Assuming you’re a Pro Seller, if you tell the buyer ‘I can get it there in 3 days if you pay $9.99 extra’ and the buyer agrees to pay it, then you use whatever shipping service can deliver the package in 3 days. Buying a label through Amazon might not be the lowest cost, but you have to choose a service that can meet the delivery promise you made.

You’ll need to know -

  • How fast you can deliver
  • How much it will cost to deliver the fast service

Before you list your items for sale.

If you promise to deliver in 3 days for $9.99 and it turns out to cost you $40, too bad for you - because you chose to offer 3-day service for $9.99.

Why would you offer a service that you cannot make a profit on the sale?

Expedited service is not priority which is a two-three day service. But it is a service which cannot be met by parcel direct or media mail.

For items under 1 lb, it may be met by First Class Parcel. It may be met by UPS or FEDEX Ground for some parts of the country.

Turn off expedited shipping unless you understand how to ship and the available rates.

Buyer pays for it, but you are the one who sets the rates (if a pro seller)
