Children toys compliance documentation

Hello,

I am a new seller on Amazon and I am trying, selling a couple of different items to see how fast they will be sold to learn what I should sell to get more profit. I have bought 20 baby rattle socks and wrist bands to sell on amazon. Similar products are already being sold on Amazon that look similar to mine. So I believe other sellers are also buying from a manufacturer on Alibaba and make them their own brand and sell them on Amazon. On the manufacturer profile it has been written that the products has 2 certificates. EN71 which is a European standard for toy safety, and ASTM. Now Amazon does not allow me to list my product because I do not have the Canada children toy compliance documentation! My question is when a product has EN71 certificate, why Amazon does not allow it to be sold here in Canada? Does it mean the European countries do not care about the health of their infants? My other concern is that why Amazon does not make such onformation "visible to public" on the profile of the products that are being sold on Amazon so that I as the seller know that all sellers are being treated equally. I say this because as I have learned so far Amazon treats the sellers who are experienced different from the new sellers. There are many items that I, as a new seller, need to request for approval in order to be able to sell them, but same products are already unrated for experienced sellers!?

Any help will be appreciated.

Following on your post. I understand your frustration as a new Amazon seller trying to navigate the complex world of product compliance and marketplace regulations.

It's a challenging landscape, especially when dealing with children's products, which are subject to particularly stringent safety standards that different regions have their own specific safety standards for children's products. This doesn't mean that European or American standards are less stringent or that these countries care less about child safety. Rather, each region has developed its own approach to ensuring product safety based on their specific needs, experiences, and regulatory frameworks.

Amazon, as a global marketplace operating in multiple countries, must adhere to the local laws and regulations of each market they serve. In Canada, this means ensuring that all products, especially those for children, meet Canadian safety standards. Even if a product is certified safe in Europe or the US, it may not automatically meet Canadian requirements.

Established sellers have built a track record of compliance and reliability over time, which gives Amazon more confidence in their products and practices. New sellers, on the other hand, are an unknown quantity, which is why Amazon applies stricter initial requirements. While this may seem unfair, it's a way for Amazon to maintain quality control and protect consumers as they gradually build trust with new sellers.

Any assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support channel.
