Customer wanting to change their shipping address
Hello,
I have a customer that just requested I change the ship to address. The item is already in route and has been shipped. Is there anything that can be done either through Amazon or the carrier? First time this has happened.
Thank you for any feedback you can provide.

No, you can try to have it re-routed back to you, but do not try and change ship to for the buyer. This can be a scam. Per Amazon policy, addresses cannot be changed either before or after shipping.
You can refund the purchase once you receive the item back and they can buy it again.

Never, ever, change a shipping address.
1. Amazon only protects you if you ship to the given address
2. I can't find it at the moment, but Amazon tells you to only ship to that address
Doing anything else is taking a risk.

Explain to the customer that you can only send the order to the exact address they originally entered when placing their Amazon order with no option to change otherwise as per Amazon rules. If they want a different address they must request cancelation of the order with the incorrect address, receive their refund and then reorder to the correct address when they are ready.

There is a specific Amazon policy you could Cut-And-Paste in your reply back to the Buyer, IF you can find it now that Amazon has changed everything and made it MORE difficult...
Bottom line; NO you cannot alter the Delivery Address once the order has been placed.
The Buyer's ONLY option is to Cancel and Re-Order with the proper Delivery address.
If the order has already shipped, it is the Buyer's problem. They can either refuse Delivery, and when you receive it back you can Refund, OR they can accept Delivery and initiate a Return, and when you receive it back you can Refund (and YOU get also to pay Return postage too!)
If the Buyer had the package shipped to a Non-Deliverable address, you wait until you receive it Back as "Undeliverable - Return to Sender" before issuing any Refund.
Do NOT be bullied by the Buyer, this is a common way to get Amazon to give a dishonest Buyer FREE stuff when they make a Claim of "Did Not Receive".
Good Luck!

If it's USPS, nothing can be done. If it's UPS or FedEx, the customer can call them and ask to hold at their distribution center or FedEx Office location. Better to offer a solution for the customer and this would be considered excellent customer service on your part.
