A to Z Claim Against Seller Due To Amazon's Tax Calculation...
Today, we received a claim stating "per the customer according to USA laws there is no taxes for this purchase. Customer would like the refund for Taxes."
The problem is, Amazon calculates, collects, and remits taxes on all orders to the state in question. We have zero control over that as a seller.
I have no clue if the customer is right or wrong regarding US tax laws, but why would this claim even be permitted to be opened against us as a seller?
Any advice on how to best respond to make sure the claim isn't ruled against us? Not sure if anyone else has dealt with something like this.
Below is screenshot of tax policy for the state in question.

You are quite right -- sellers have zero control over the assessment / collection of sales tax.
Whether the buyer should or should not have been charged is between the buyer, Amazon, and that state.
No, it should not be possible to open a claim.
I would like to see some mod involvement here.

Have you opened a case? Have you opened an appeal? Amazon is responsible for tax collection in NY, buyer is responsible for paying the tax.
