As per my experience, if you directly decrease the price- Amazon increases visibility of your product for some time (24-48 hrs). Then if the customers start buying it, it keeps on increasing visibility due to sales.

On the other hand, if you give Coupon, it will show a green box with coupon, it helps to increase CTR. But your listing has to be convincing enough to bring sales.

Moreover, please note that you will be charged with $0.6/coupon claim and the Claim Percentage is averagely 30%, whereas the price reduction may affect deal prices if you opt any deal in future.
