Amazon Buy Shipping late USPS scan issue
Good afternoon.
We recently had 2 A-Z claims granted, where we shipped on time, but USPS or UPS did not scan timely for their first scan. Although we have Amazon Buy Shipping, our appeal was denied and the claim counted against our ODR and debited from our account.
Does the ship-by deadline actually refer to the first carrier scan? Is there any action we can take in these cases?
Please advise.
Thanks!

Yes, the ship-by deadline typically refers to the first carrier scan, not just when you create a label.
Actions you can take:
1. Print labels early but ensure packages get scanned in by:
- Scheduling same-day pickup with your carrier
- Dropping off at carrier locations before their last pickup time
- Using scan forms (USPS Form 5630) for bulk dropoffs to get everything scanned quickly
2. Build in buffer time:
- Process orders earlier than the deadline when possible
- Account for carrier pickup/dropoff cutoff times
- Consider local carrier location hours
3. Document everything:
- Keep dropoff receipts
- Take photos/videos of dropoffs if needed
- Save tracking information
4. If delays occur:
- Communicate proactively with customers
- Document any carrier issues or exceptional circumstances
