Poly Bagging with Holes and Handle

I am new to selling and am looking to get the right packaging for my product. My product is a plush product, so it does need some sort of poly bag. However I am wondering if having the holes at the bottom of the bag is acceptable? I read on another forum that it is required for childrens toys, however this will be for pet toys. It also has a handle, and I am wondering if that is acceptable as well. My manufacturer is suggesting this option, but I just wanted to double check. I dont want to spend the money getting the packaging set up, only to have it turned away by Amazon. Any advice or help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi @Seller_HlxDuXHMhMM2P,

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to help. These are the following requirements for a plush toy:

  • Place product in a transparent poly bag to protect from damage or dust.
  • Products can also be shrink-wrapped.
  • Bag must have a suffocation warning.
  • Bag must be secured if not self-adhesive.
  • Barcode must be scannable.

Having holes such as the picture is okay and wont impact the receiving however I wouldn't recommend it.

Best,

Dominic

While I won't dispute the statement that the handles are allowed, note that any excessive packaging, including the bag when laid flat for measure, can result in higher FBA fees. You should try to keep your packaging as small as possible while still enclosing your product.

Note also that you want a bag that actually seals with an adhesive strip, not a zipper bag. And save yourself some aggravation, and get them with the suffocation warnings pre-printed.

Have you heard of issues with the zipper bags?

Nothing specific, but they are more prone to accidental opening, plus they typically cost more.

OTOH, if it's something for storage, then it might be worth a try. I have no personal experience in that regard.

DO NOT use that bag, your FBA fees will be off their rocker. I would gently vacuum pack plush toys with no protruding plastic tabs / edges sticking out, but not so much that it ruins or permanently deforms the toy. Shrink wrap doesn't shrink the toy, only the wrap. You might do better smooshing it into an undersized box to keep your fees down. You can put an adhesive Suffocation Sticker on the outside of any plastic wrap, it doesn't have to be printed on the bag.

As a consumer, the holes in the bag would allow for the plush toy to get dirty while it is moving through the warehouses or carrier vehicles. I would be annoyed to received a toy that is dirty. Although compliant, I would avoid a bag with holes.
