Can I Use the Same Phone Number for Two Separate Amazon Seller Accounts?

I manage an Amazon seller account for my job and also have a personal Amazon seller account for my own business. I want to confirm if it's allowed to use the same phone number for both accounts. I want to make sure I'm compliant with Amazon's policies. Has anyone dealt with this before or gotten clarity from Amazon Support?

Thanks for any insights!

You are treading on thin ice. If the accounts are found to be related and either one of them has an issue, both will be shut down.

I would not risk that. Mobile phones are affordable, buy a new one with a new number. Also, you should never ever use your work wifi to log in your personal account and vice versa. Also it is recommendable that your private account sells in different categories than your work account.

But since you write you already HAVE a personal account, don't you already use the same phone numbers?

Create a user account for the account you manage, but don't log in directly to the main account.

I manage multiple accounts but I always log in as a user (trick learned from working with client services).

This shows I do not have ownership of the account and am just an account manager.

You will be risky if you do so. And you will never know when will amazon shut down both of your own account and company account. So, devide your private and work account Strictly for everything, no matter card, phone number, IP, catalog, product or etc...

The items in the warnings haven't been true for some time. Multiple accounts are not an issue any longer, as long as they don't list the same item, EVER. That is the key. We were approved by Amazon for multiple accounts years ago, but now approval is not necessary. There are obviously some issues, however... 1) Can never list the same item; 2) if 1 account is ever suspended, then so is the other.

You can use the same address and phone number with one caveat. The system will constantly ask you for an emergency number so they can contact you in the event of a serious issue. It will not allow you to use the same emergency number. It comes back and tells you that number is already being used for a different account. As far as normal business and customer service address and phone numbers, ours have always been the same. Even after moving to a different state both received the post cards and were approved and activated correctly.

The warnings and stories from years ago may be true, but they are no longer the case. If you run the accounts correctly and don't overlap products, there is no issue. The "associated" accounts issue comes into play when one account of yours, new or old, has been suspended without ever correcting the issue.

Why would you use any phone number at all? Remove your phone number & if you really think you need the extra security simply enable authenticate codes. Phone numbers are insecure anyways & should never be used as a second line of defense because companies will begin to rely on them & allow people to reset passwords with them, its not true 2FA its a weak compromised backdoor into your account which can be abused by bad actors.

You should NEVER use your phone number for anything online period! Its a shame so many legacy companies, especially banks ask for phone numbers when their an outdated relic of the pre-internet days when data rates were slow & real time encryption didn't exist. The PSTN (public switched telephone network) is obsolete & insecure.

I strongly encourage people to cut the cord & just buy a data only SIM, then if you really need a phone number for work, use a ultra cheap VoIP service. Its still flawed but VoIP phone numbers are far more secure as they simply do not have SIM cards, their tied to online accounts accessed over the internet, not to credentials which can be stored on a phone. But if your lifestyle allows for it, ditch your phone number all together, its time we move away from phone numbers.
