Needs to be matched wisely to build an advertising structure

Automated; data completely handed over to Amazon to promote in conjunction with your detail pages

Manual; you set the exposure words .

  1. So set your budget based on profit
  2. Based on your budget, set your ad campaign!

Hi @Seller_mSWNNQ9YaeKK4

Let me share some thoughts about automatic vs. manual targeting for Amazon ads:

Auto-targeting campaigns have some advantages:

  • Quicker to set up
  • Can help discover new keywords and products to target
  • Amazon's algorithm learns from your sales data

However, there are significant limitations:

  • Less control over where your ads appear
  • Can only exclude targets (negative targeting) but can't choose specific targets
  • Limited bid management options (only ad group default bid and some placement adjustments)
  • Performance often depends heavily on your listing quality and existing sales history

Since you mentioned losing money and having few sales, manual targeting might be a better choice because:

  • You have precise control over every keyword and product target
  • You can set individual bids for each target
  • You're less dependent on Amazon's algorithm having enough sales data
  • During manual campaign setup, Amazon suggests keywords and products you could target. Taking time to review these suggestions helps create a more focused campaign. Plus, the quality of these suggestions can give you an idea of how well an auto-targeting campaign might perform for your product.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards, Michael

Thanks for the post, @Seller_mSWNNQ9YaeKK4- and for sharing some helpful guidance, @Seller_CBCZfnhh8RTmhand @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Z!

To their points, there may not be any 'one-size-fits-all' solution for advertising campaigns that may be best for your business. But if you haven't investigated the Media Planning Suite within Campaign Manager, it can help you discover insights about your audience to help tailor your campaigns to better make an impact on your existing audiences, and find ways to reach new audiences!

Hope this helps, and thanks again for posting on the forums!
