Benefits of using a listed law firm IP Accelerator ?

My law firm, which is not listed on IP Accelerator, told me that I can apply for a Brand Registry with a pending trademark registration from their law firm. I don't have to hire a law firm that is listed on IP Accelerator.

I found some other law firms that said the same thing.

So my question is: what is the purpose and what are the benefits of the listed law firms? If I’m not mistaken they’re approx. 30% more expensive as well? Anyone who hired a non-listed law firm.. what was your experience? Do you think a listed law firm offers more benefits?

Hello @Seller_q1gJo9YWmVTeO

Thank you for your question here. My name is Sandy from the Community manager team.

Sellers are not required to use law firms listed in the IP Accelerator program. They can still get approved into Brand Registry with a pending or registered trademark and get access to brand registry benefits.

There are a few benefits of using the IP Accelerator program.

1. Approval times for Brand Registry may be quicker

2. Access to tools may be quicker

3. Since the law firms are vetted by Amazon, you do not have to worry if a law firm is under Amazon or USPTO investigation.

4. Vetted law firms understand the Brand Registry registration process, so they may be able to give advise based on your business goals.

Before hiring an attorney or trademark service company, please check whether they’re subject to an Order for Sanctions from the USPTO or listed on Potentially Misleading Solicitations.

I understand you are asking for other sellers opinions. but I just wanted to provide my suggestions from assisting many sellers here 😊

Please let me know if you have questions.

Best,

Sandy

Do not use IP accelerator.

I am not an Amazon partner so I can give you my honest opinion.

There is no difference in speed...just price. Use your own law firm and get a serial number from a pending trademark and use that to register for Brand Registry.

Amazon will accept TM application unapproved, and this is how you hijack a brand. It can take a year or longer before amazon will find out if the TM is approved or rejected. In the meantime, brand registry in inaccurate in our opinion. We think amazon should only accept approved TM applications. Or have a pilot program while waiting for TM acceptance.

Basically Amazon wants you to use their Accelerator so they can make more money off of you. They get a cut of everything. Always. They do nothing for your benefit. Amazon's job is to squeeze every penny from you.

Just use a lawyer who does this enough to have experience with it.

I used a law firm through the IP Accelerator program and got brand registry approved in just a few weeks. They charged a flat fee and it was well worth it. Before the IP Accelerator program existed for another brand I used my existing law firm it took months to get from USPTO and then months for Amazon to approve and I was charged by the hour for all the work involved from my law firm.

I would definitely use an IP Accelerator firm if you're looking to move quickly and want to start selling on Amazon. I used IdeaLegal and would use them again instantly if I ever need to create another brand.
