Detail Page Removed??!!
I woke up today to approximately 50 of my book listings being placed in my Inactive Inventory, due to having their Detail Page Removed. These were all legitimate books, with legitimate detail pages, and now if you search for those ISBN numbers on Amazon, they have been completely removed from Amazon's website. What in the hell is going on, Amazon? Do you have to just constantly screw things up? After dealing with scammers as customers, thousands of books getting made inactive due to BS "high pricing errors," and every other headache known to mankind, now your bots are going to completely delete legit ISBN numbers, and pretend like those books don't even exist? Amazon is such a dang waste of my time. I spend half of my life re-instating listings that are perfectly legit and prices that are perfectly legit. And I guess Amazon has decided that's not enough. Time to just completely scrub dozens of books from their website altogether. What a frigging joke. But I repeat myself.

Do you have a title/author and ISBN you can share re: one deletion? The reason I ask is having jumped through numerous hoops over the last year re: correcting numerous detail pages .. I finally opened a case with "seller support" only to have them give me advice to create a new detail page. Having been dinged via the detail page debacle of last summer .. that was not an option I chose to pursue.
I understand the frustration .. it used to be that one could list a 50 year old title under collectibles .. as of this year .. there is zero awareness by the bots as to condition .. everything is tied to the lowest price on offer .. so if a 50 year old title with an acceptable condition is priced @ 99c .. then the like new condition is held to within a specific % price point of 99c .. unless of course a "favored" seller is in the mix (usually just under $99.00) ..
Even more odd is the reality in place by the bots on certain titles .. where one seller can list @ say 49.00 in "good" condition (collectible) .. and another seller is held to 22.00 (like new condition) .. there is zero consistency .. which is probably the point ..
It was only because a Mod intervened after I posted in this forum (Mod escalated the case via seller support that was literally going no where due to SS's lack of basic comprehension) that I was able to get a title (collectible) listed above the "pricing hold" the bots had in place .. it is both exhausting (time consuming) and frustrating to deal with this stuff every day .. I do wonder if the end goal is is to only retain a handful of "favored" media sellers .. regardless of their media "quality" .. "customer service" or "pricing" .. KJ

We don't sell books, but agree with you about the endless hours --that we are now debating if Amazon is worth the investment of time (time = money) when you can't list using a generic brand any longer, and find "search suppressed" when a full description is provided so we have no idea why a listing is suppress, or worse yet, find a "detail page removed" - inactive. It is occuring more and more frequently for no apparent reason that we are having internal meetings about letting our present listings run and then we walking away. They are wearing us out - literally --with trying to get listings to remain active. We're really frustrated which is unfortunate.

Be grateful that you haven't been charged a 'policy violation' for all the titles removed. We've been charged for EVERY item removal from the AMZ catalog. Items that we didn't even list for YEARS! It has been impossible to have the violations removed, as we are just ignored. We aren't concerned, but its weird. AMZ can't be understood any longer, but it seems that books are not at the top of their priorities as AMZ moves into retail and explore other areas of commerce.

Everything, everything is going per the Bezos plan.
Use mechanization (mindless, poorly programmed bots) to handle problems on the Perreto curve: they handle 80% (well, may 50% at best) of the problems, and the other 20% that require human intervention & judgement (i.e. too much cost) are handled by not handling them at all.
All by his plan.

They like to do it on a Friday night - i had 698 removed ... all legit listings. Now there are some replacement "Generic" Listings which you cant list against. Just the Seller who created the listing can list against. Opening up a Case is Pointless.

The damage to Amazon's catalog is enormous. Between safety, suspected IP, and price the number of products not available for sale is staggering. All the claims are bogus and have just become a massive time suck.
The poor outsourced programming is just ridiculous; the pricing bot is an absolute joke right now. I can literally sell an item 1 week for $100 and next week I get a price error at $75 and the offer is removed.

Their catalog is a nightmare just like everything here is. We have a large catalog and have between 50-100 products go suppressed/inactive daily. Listings that have been fine for years suddenly have bullet points or compliant images disappear. Whats worse, seller support is useless to find the root cause. If you reopen a case 100 times they finally just tell you that you are the one that deleted it.
Bezos needs to come back and clean house. Fire half the employees. Get people to fix the platform. Its about the only thing I can see will bring Amazon back to its former glory.

You have expressed interest to look at issues in the past and actually work on them; The catalog problems are deep and pervasive and 100% deserve a deep dive by the mods )or beyond) to address.
The catalog is Amazon's greatest asset and allowed them to deliver almost any product ever made directly to consumers doorsteps at a reasonable price; this is what made Amazon great and is becoming less true every day.

It is getting time to leave. I went through all that, price too high, detail page removed, things they considered mistakes, etc... The final straw came when they wanted us to re-prove we were real by sending them all kinds of paperwork. Of course they didn't NEED that paperwork to charge us fees but only for us to continue to sell. We didn't send them the paperwork, instead opted to quit altogether. They continued to CHARGE us without that paperwork but we can't sell. Yes, we went to the individual account and deleted all our inventory...except the inventory with "problems" that is IMPOSSIBLE to delete. But Amazon manged to charge our supposedly "fake" account another $.65 for a reason called "other"
Probably another 60 days before they actually let us leave. How many "other" charges will there be.

I've found that 'Detail Page Removed' happens most often when we have the only "real" copy of a book listed and Amazon has tons of Print-on-Demand copies on offer. How removing original copies of books so that buyers' only options are cheap print-to-order copies is "delighting the customer" is anybody's guess. High Pricing errors are simply a mystery, since it often seems that sellers with higher prices than ours on a book are left alone while we are suppressed. (Had a $30 book ejected for a High Pricing error the other day, leaving 3 copies from other sellers priced at $60, $65 and $80.)
