Help getting Product Type corrected

I am a registered brand owner and am struggling to get seller support to change my product type. I reach out and start a case, they say they are changing the product type and then nothing happens! I don't know if I am just not being clear on what I need but really need some help from a mod

@Dougal_Amazon

Latest case is CaseID: 17826405971, and the product types are still not changed, but they say the case is resolved.

I have 12 ASINS that I want to be changed to food storage container under pet supplies, the browse node is correct, all I want changed is the product type from storage rack or storage hooks to food storage container.

I need this to happen so I can merge these as children under a parent

Hi @Seller_lLtttYMsFFfz6,

Product type issues like this come up regularly here, so you’re definitely not alone.

From what I understand, Amazon uses automated systems that analyze your product text and data fields to determine the "best fit" product type. Sometimes even a single word (or the order of words) can make a difference.

I hope you don’t mind: To better understand your situation, I looked up your Amazon store (the store name is visible in your forum profile). One listing I looked at more closely is the one with the ASIN ending in N4Q8J.

If I’m interpreting your message right, your product is primarily meant for food storage, and the wall-mounting is just a feature - not the main thing. But Amazon’s systems may currently be interpreting it the other way around.

In that context, it could help to rephrase or minimize terms like "Wall Storage," "Wall Organizer," and "Dog Shelf" in your title.

You mentioned the system sometimes classifies your products under "storage hooks." For example, in your title I noticed "3 Sets of Triple Hooks," and in your second bullet point: "Three sets of triple hooks (9 hooks total) with 1.5" deep main hooks." Details like these might be sending a "hook/shelf" signal.

In the technical details table further down your product page, I also noticed "Mounting Type: Wall Mount" and "Included Components: Compartments Included." This kind of wording could make it seem like it’s primarily a shelf (with compartments as just a part of it) instead of the other way around.

While I’ve seen quite a few cases where the forum moderators or Seller Support have helped resolve similar situations, you might get to your desired outcome quicker by rephrasing your texts a little. If you’d like to brainstorm ideas or get feedback on draft wording, just let us know. I’m sure other forum members would have ideas and share their experiences too.

Hang in there - and best of luck getting those product type issues sorted, so you can set up the parent/child structure just the way you want!

Hi there @Seller_lLtttYMsFFfz6,

I've reviewed your case and your ASINs and it looks like the browse nodes for these products have been updated. However I think the product type (which is a different attribute) has not yet been updated. I'm currently investigating with our internal team. Once I have additional details I will reach out to you again here. Thank you for your understanding.
