Defending an expiration date claim from a customer.

We have been selling a supplement for about 8 years. We received a complaint from a customer that the product is close to its expiration date. Amazon is having us trying to defend selling an expired product, which we did not. The product expires in three months. We sell 10 capsules, which is about a 2 weeks supply. Amazons policy is as follows:

Shelf-life requirements for expiration-dated products

All expiration-dated products intended for regular application or consumption must be received by the customer with sufficient time for use. For example, a bottle of supplements with 240 daily servings must be received by the customer more than 240 days before expiration. This requirement extends to all individual products sold in bulk, or as part of a bundle. In addition, food and beverage products—as well as products that ship with food or beverages—must be lot-controlled and received by the customer with sufficient time for use.

With that being said, we offered the customer a full refund if he was not happy with the product to which we received no response.

We will get questions from customers from time to time on expiration dates as we come close to a new lot. We never sell our product within 60 days of expiration date. Every customer up to this point has been happy with our response, if you're not happy with the performance, we will gladly refund you in full.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciative. We did not violate any policy so unsure how to respond. I spoke with seller support and it was painful. He could not point our where the violation is and basically said we need to ensure we meet every customers expectation. This makes no sense as if the customer said he intends to take one capsule every three months are expiration dates would have to be three years out.

Typically when it comes to these situations you can dispute the situation with the accumulation of the proper documentation. When it comes to these types of products they typically include lot or batch numbers to help verify information including the expiry dates. Do you have any invoices or sourcing documentation that confirms you sourced this specific product and lot number for confirmation of compliance? Additionally, what information have you provided thus far? Do you have any cases where you provided this supporting information that you could provide?
