Correcting Amazon Listings Created by Other 3P Sellers

I manufacture products that we historically sold in brick and mortar and direct to consumer. We are looking to expand into ecommerce on Amazon with the products we've sold for many years. We are brand registered for our brand name.

We created our listing on Amazon with a bulk file and received errors because other 3P sellers listed our products with incorrect product information. For example, the brand name is the Product Title, the brand is the name of the 3P seller's account (e.g. Brand = "PetMax", Seller name = "PetMax"), the manufacturer is a completely different company, 4 ASINs for the same product. Because of this incorrect information, we do not have control over our listings and the detail page information is VERY incorrect.

What is the best course of action to correct this information? Seller Support has been largely unhelpful so far. Seller Support helped to update brand names in one-offs. We have over 300 ASINs listed on Amazon.

I feel like we are being penalized because we did not sell product on Amazon and other 3P sellers are able to list our products with incorrect information. In some instances, the seller listed products with incorrect allergen info that could impact the end consumer.

You are definitely being penalized for not listing your products 20 years ago when Amazon first allowed 3P sellers. I don't have a solution for you but wanted to let you know I feel your pain.

We've been selling on Amazon for over a decade but had a distributor selling on Amazon before us. They used our UPCs but didn't always associate with the correct item or list the correct quantity.

We're also brand registered and could get brand names changed but learned the hard way that UPC and package quantity are two fields that are locked and can never be changed ever again -- despite opening multiple cases and providing evidence (pictures, link to manufacturer website etc).

As a result, some items we just list with incorrect information since we can't change them (like a quantity of 1 when it's a quantity of 500, info is correct in the item title but not in the details). Other products we have to relabel with an Amazon barcode (a huge pain for our warehouse) even though our UPC is on it. With one particular item, we abandoned the original listing and created a new one with a new upc and correct information. And a couple of items we just decided not to sell on Amazon, it wasn't worth the hassle of taking the above steps.

Other details like bullets and descriptions eventually got changed and updated with the information we inputted over time. But we still run into issues where Amazon says a field we want to change conflicts with information from Amazon's catalog or that Amazon contributed themselves (but that information is wrong).

Something that's been recommended to me is paying for an amazon account manager through the strategic account services program. They said they can help escalate these cases but no guarantee of getting them resolved in your favor. I have yet to talk to a seller who says the monthly fees of the program are worth it and that it's been a success for them so haven't signed up for it.

With 300 asins, list what you can and then tackle the ones with problems starting with your best sellers.

Good luck and let me know if you find any workarounds!
