New seller: Name and tax ID do not match IRS records

Hi everyone,

I am a newly registered seller trying to input my tax information as part of onboarding. I keep receiving the below error when I try to submit my tax information:

"The Name and Tax ID provided do not match IRS records. Please review your previous inputs and ensure the "Name" line is the correct name associated with the Tax ID provided. You should complete the tax information for the individual or business that will report the income on a U.S. income tax return. If you are completing the tax interview on behalf of a single member LLC, generally the owner’s Name and Tax ID would be provided."

What I've tried:

  • I've gone back and forth with seller support and am not getting any more clarity on the issue, just being linked to FAQs
  • I have called the IRS and confirmed that all my information is correct and that I am populating the field correctly
  • I am taking the information from my CP575 and directly entering them into the Amazon form
  • I have also tried entering my business (LLC partnership) name several different ways, with and without commas
  • I have scoured the seller forum and tried all the methods that have sometimes worked for others and to no avail

I am at my wit's end, can someone please assist?

Thanks

Hello there @Seller_OnoPZyjeG8Zgw

My name is CR and wanted to hop in here . While I am unable to provide specific tax advice, I have provided several resources below with more information on Amazon tax guidelines.

One thing you can check is to make sure you are not putting your personal name into the field "Full name". This is a common mistake and you should have put your business name (the name of your registered LLC) there.

If this is not your issue or does not work, I recommend that you create a case to Seller Support with your question and they can engage the Tax department.
