Customs Declared Value
In creating my first shipping plan, I need to define a declared value for customs. I have found that this cost should be the cost of the products purchased in the originating country (China in this case).
My confusion lies in the complications of my product. My product is considered a set by the CBP under GRI 3b There are two products with a gift box all enclosed in the same unit. Let's say Products A and B cost $3 and $5 respectively and the box costs $2. Each product and the box are all produced in separate factories then sent to the same Factory A for assembly and packaging. Factory A then ships it out.
Is my declared value then:
1. Only the cost of the product made in Factory A: $3
2. The cost of the products sans the box: $3 + $5 = $8
3. The total cost of the two products and the box: $3 + $5 + $2 = $10
Thank you for any input you can provide!

Think of it this way; suppose you paid for all this, and the shipment got lost at sea (happens sometimes). How much money would you want back, since you received nothing that you paid for? I suspect, you'd want all of it.
That's the "Value" that should be declared.
