Add new, additional product variation

I need to add a new, additional, variation to an existing parent listing I have listed. From my research, it looks like I need to delete the parent ASIN and then create a new one with the new variation along with the existing variation I have. However, I am very concerned about deleting the parent listing because this is my best selling ASIN with lots of positive reviews, so I am worried the main ASINS will also be deleted. The main reason for that concern is because when I click to delete the parent ASIN a warning pops up and one of the warnings states: 'If you delete a variation family, associated variations will also be permanently removed and cannot be added for the next 24 hours.'
Does this mean that the 3 child ASINs that form the family will also be deleted and not available for sale on Amazon for 24 hours? Also, if the child ASINs are deleted, is it possible for me to recreate them and not lose all our hard won positive feedback? I guess the answer might be that although they are deleted, they will remain in the Amazon catalogue and I can simply relist them, but I'm not sure. Even if that is the case, some reassurance would be great!!

First thing, you don't need to delete Parent to add any child in it.
Second thing, If you delete Parent, Childs are available for sale but as individual listing.
And if you delete child ASINs, you can recreate them and in most of the cases feedback are also added back. But remember to use old SKUs with child ASINs.

I hope the help from @Seller_c9lY8wF1Vo61O addressed your concern. I wanted to add to this to indicate that Parent ASINs do not contain any of the product reviews or sales histories for any product. You can delete and replace a Parent ASIN with no impact beyond a short delay because reviews and sales histories are tied to the individual children.
