Tracking Number Validation
We are staffed entirely by volunteers. While we all do our best, we sometimes make an error when entering a tracking number. We mail using USPS. My question is, if Amazon can tell you that a tracking number is incorrect, why don't they do so while there is time it correct it? The report shows errors, but too late to correct them before the expected deilvery date.

I am not addressing your "why doesn't Amazon" question, but will emphasize there is no need to ever manually enter tracking -- that's almost certainly going to lead to the occasional error. Tracking confirmation should always be a copy and paste operation -- never typing numbers.
If you are buying postage at the post office, sign up to get an email receipt.
Or switch to buying shipping labels online (through Amazon if you wish) or PirateShip, Stamps, etc.
But avoid ever typing in tracking.
