FBA return "item not as described"

One of my FBA products was returned - customer said "item wasn't as described" can I reach out by message to the customer to find out what was wrong or is that grounds for having my account shut down if I reach out? I am new to selling here and I'm not sure how the item was not as described just looking for customer feedback.

it’s not recommendable… on Amazon eyes would be inappropriate!

Check the below link as a reference of how amazon looks at sellers contacting a buyer:

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/f7ccc559-42ed-46f6-880d-2ac7fcae20ab?postId=1cb3ab2c-e5b8-477d-896c-ad90a977e1e9

Once you go over a year selling online, you’ll face the whole spectrum of random reasons of why buyers return an item.

Read your listing carefully, and make sure your product backs up what it’s offering and meets the buyers expectations.

Good luck,

Best to not contact the customer, especially since this is FBA, meaning that Amazon fully handles the return.

Be aware also that "Not as Described" is the return reason often chosen by a buyer who decides they don't want the item after all, and don't want to be on the hook for paying to return, which would be the case if they honestly stated "No longer needed". Getting a Not as Described may or may not be an indication of issues with your listing and/or item, although doesn't hurt to double check.

Hi @Seller_qwjbj5tUNiqie:

Tiff here from Amazon. I see that @Seller_Itu5QzRB1QppK provided a link to a helpful related forums thread and @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrw highlighted that Amazon handles the customer service for FBA orders. Reviewing or updating the listing can also be another proactive strategy to prevent returns. Here are some listing quality suggestions.
