Refund at first scan for $495 USD order.

Just got a case of Refund at first scan for a $495 USD order. The next delivery service was premium shipping and they also refunded $45.99 for premium shipping. This is a first for me. Why in the world would Amazon do this? I'm still waiting for the return.

Why did people buy premium shipping and that also has to be refunded along with a $445 value item at first scan?

Please help me understand this!

You should be fine then. File a SAFE-T claim referencing the below seller support article and note that the return code provided by the customer is a customer fault return code. If you have the correct dimensions of your product on your listing page, also reference that as well to further strengthen your claim. Note that the premium shipping is not related to the return value of the product and is a non-recoverable expense that should have have been reimbursed for a customer fault return code.

Amazon always, ALWAYS refunds the outgoing shipping for our returns. Every single RFS return we receive we have to file a Safe-t claim for to get that refunded back to us. No idea why they can't just set it up properly so the customer only gets refunded the cost of the item, because at the end of the day Amazon is paying us back, not the customer like it should be. Outgoing shipping costs are NOT refundable! The ONLY reason you won't win the SAFET claim is if they used a bogus return reason like "wrong item was sent" or "did not match website description" because at that point even if you send in proof the correct item was sent etc Amazon won't pay you back. If it is a return reason (in our case we sell clothing) like item didn't fit, no longer needed etc then you will win the SAFET claim and get those shipping costs back.

OP: "Why did people buy premium shipping and that also has to be refunded along with a $445 value item at first scan?"

Depending on the return reason, RFS refunds in full, including the outward shipping the buyer paid. The larger problem will occur when you receive the product back and find it has been exchanged with a different one.

Even with a proper Safe-T-Claim you will be lucky to get your outgoing shipping covered. The people processing these claims are not properly trained.

Because amazon continues to allow customer fraud & buyer scams. They don't care and will deny your safe T claim with zero valid reason. Speaking from experience. They know it's a problem but don't care because the money is coming out of the sellers account.

This is the key to amazon fraud for years. We all know that we don't really know what's in the box untill WE RECEIVE IT AND INSPECT IT but amazon will always GO AGAINST YOUR RETURN SETTINGS- and give the refund at first scan and then leave you to deal with the problem on your own. SAFE T claims are a total joke. It's like they work with their eyes closed and don't bother to look at pictures or proof.

The reason why sellers get scammed out of money and damaged items is because amazon continues to allow customers to fraud us- meaning : Full refund at first scan, while still in transit, without truly knowing what's inside and is it still in new condition.

Solution: AMAZON needs to honor the return settings of the seller, that's why the settings are there to begin with.

AMAZON needs to WAIT UNTIL RETURN BOX IS RECEIVED to issue any refund.

That will end 90% of customer fraud.

Will they do anything to change this? Nope. It's been going on for years. It's to the point where "how much more can you tolerate from Amazon before you quit this platform ".

Hello @Seller_tcwwJM3S0wBFE

Thank you for posting your inquiry to the Forums,

Amazon issues a Refund at First Scan for items returned through Amazon’s Prepaid Returns Label program. With Refund at First Scan, a buyer receives a refund when the returned item is dropped off at a designated carrier location using a prepaid return label that was issued by us. If you receive a damaged or materially different return due to customer fault, you can file a SAFE-T claim on Seller Central within 60 days of a refund charge to your account.

If you need assistance regarding a specific SAFE-T Claim, please feel free to provide the claim ID number and I can review the correspondence provided.

Regards,

Quincy_Amazon
