Order in Pending Status?

Hello , I would like to know if the customer place the order and the order is in pending state, till how long will it stay in the same status. I am asking because I can see my inventory getting to reserved and hence out of stock on the buyer portal, as lot of Inventory is stuck now, neither getting dispatched nor can be bought by genuine customers.

Please note: I use FBA mode

So neither is customer buying it neither cancelling the order. So I am stuck now... Can anyone help me please..

Pending orders remain pending for 7 days (giving the buyer an opportunity to fix payment method). They are given three tries, total 21 days.

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to help. On the Manage orders page, an order with a status of Pending might indicate an issue with the buyer's payment method or a convenience store payment method. In some cases, our payment and order detail verification processes can potentially extend order processing times for as long as 21 days.

I have dealt with this issue for years with the same responses from Amazon, "awaiting payment verification". But what I am realizing is that a large percentage of my pending orders are actually "try before you buy" orders. You might be experiencing the same thing. They show as "awaiting payment verification" but Amazon has actually sent them a free product and once it is returned to Amazon, then the order comes through at $0. A FBA returns report shows that it has been returned after about 3 weeks of original order date. One of the things, among many that I dislike FBA. That's why, if it is our own product or we are the only seller of that product, we DON'T use FBA.
