Why does spending more on ads doesn't translate to more sales?

I have been selling on Amazon for more than a year and still don't understand this issue. I have been promoting my products ever since I started selling on amazon and have decent knowledge about amazon ads but haven't been able to solve this. Lets say I spend 10 dollars for ads in a day and make 20 dollars of profit. With basic logic I say to myself I should be able to make 40 dollars profit if I spend 20 dollar instead of 10 but that's not the case ever. It almost feels like there is a limit to how much I can sell with ads for me. Doesn't matter how much I spent I sell the same amount on average.

Like I've said I have decent knowledge about amazon ads and I know just increasing the bids doesn't mean selling more and it might even have a negative effect. But I have tried every way possible many times and still no positive results. I either spend low and sell low or I spend more and still sell low.

I should add that my product detail pages are well built in my opinion. I spent a lot of time on SEO, A+, product images and my conversion rates are pretty good.

Thanks for any advice in advance.
