UPS Pick ups

Was hoping to get some advise from my fellow sellers on how you all are handling UPS pick up now that Amazon has worked with them to get us discount through Buy Shipping. In the past when I rarely used UPS and would simply call in for a pick up when needed, but now that we are using them a lot more, we were advised to open an account and set up a weekly pick up. The problem with this is all shipping labels are being purchased on Amazons UPS account, not my own and with there being no link between the two, my account is not able to take advantage of the discounted pick up charge you receive from purchasing over $75 worth with them.

I’m wondering how the rest of you are handling this? My rep is being nice enough to submit credits for me, but its beginning to become a mess. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

The UPS discount is becoming less and less of a discount. I doubt that we will enjoy it much longer.
Check the math and see if paying some shipping through your account ($75) is worth the discount for the UPS pickup
If it is, buy $75 worth of shipping through your account
If it isn’t, pay the full price of the pickup

Another option, do you list on eBay, Wally, Shopify, Etsy, Sears, Newegg, etc? If so, ship $75 worth of freight from those channels via UPS and problem solved

We had our Amazon Buy Shipping UPS shipments added to our UPS account. Your rep will be able to do this for you.

ETA: Amazon should have given you your own UPS account number which is found within the tracking number. Give that number to your rep. 1Z (123 A2B) XXXXXXXX.

Here is the email I wrote to my rep. All other communication was by phone

I just wanted to reach out to let you know that Amazon and Shipstation are currently offering deeply discounted prices on UPS shipments.
I have removed our shipping account from Amazon so we can take advantage of these discounts.

Amazon gives us (each seller) a specific UPS account number. Do you know if there is a way to add this account number to our current account? Would it make a difference when having to file claims, any type of adjustments or buying supplies?

It looks like the account number they assigned to us is ****** .

I have been tracking some of the forums on Amazon about using these discounts and there are a few accounts that have been charged adjustment fees by UPS/Amazon. Amazon is not clear when it comes to these charges, so I am hoping this is something we will not have to deal with. I am going to keep an eye out and if there are adjustments or the discounts stop, I am going to re-add our account.

If you could give me any insight into this or if you would like to speak on the phone, I will be here today or tomorrow from 10am-4:30pm.

He called me and we went over everything. He was able to add it. But…I don’t see that account added to our profile anymore, so I am not sure if something has changed. I am guessing it has.

I am not sure if any of this will help you guys. After years of terrible UPS reps, we were lucky that in 2020 our new rep has really stepped up to help us out. Unfortunately, he prefers to speak on the phone or come to the office, so I don’t have any records of what he did to add the ABS account.
