Hazmat issue on Cosmetics requiring SDS

Anyone else having this issue??

I make handmade cosmetics, cosmetics do not have SDS, but I was requested to provide SDS for two beard oils.

The SDS exemption form should be enough since Amazon themselves say that SDS exemption form is for items that do not have SDS and do not contain dangerous chemicals...which my natural organic cosmetics obviously do not contain dangerous chemicals. But the SDS exemption sheet was rejected without reason and amazon is asking for a SDS.

How does one get a SDS for a cosmetic that is not a chemical....its literally not dangerous at all it can go on your skin lol its not like its a fragrance oil or something which requires a SDS understandably.

Thank you for taking the time to connect with us via the Forums. I would like to be able to provide a relevant response to your concern. Could you please provide an ASIN or case ID?

If you list products on Amazon, you must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards and our policies related to those products and product listings. A safety data sheet may be a required in some instances.

This may be helpful: Handmade Beauty & Grooming guidelines and Cosmetics in part this states:

Notification

  • Under the Cosmetic Regulations, manufacturers and importers are required to submit a Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF) and, under certain circumstances, labels and inserts to Health Canada within 10 days of selling any cosmetic product on Amazon.ca.
  • To provide notification, the manufacturer and importer must complete a Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF). The CNF requests information including brand name, area of application (e.g., lips), function of the product, name and address in Canada of the manufacturer, importer or distributor, etc. Manufacturers or importers that have provided a CNF must submit a new CNF if any information in the original becomes inaccurate within 10 days of the change. Otherwise, CNFs are valid for 2 years. Please refer to the Health Canada Notification of Cosmetics policy for more information.
  • Please note that submitting a CNF does not constitute approval for sale by Health Canada, as the CNF is a notification process of intent to sell a product and it is not a licensing process where the products are evaluated by Health Canada.

There may be additional requirement that must be completed for safety reasons. If you require specific information related to your product, please provide the ASIN.

I look forward to your response. Thank you for reaching out on the Forums.

YES! We are having the same issue! And have been asking Amazon for two years to reread our exemption, and they reply that we should get an SDS from the manufacturer. But we ARE the manufacturer! I have also looked for companies that can possibly test and supply us with an SDS but that isn't even something I can find. I'm sorry I'm not of any help or hope but I will keep reading here to see if there's another way. Good Luck!

This is Josh from Amazon, thank you for contacting our Forums!

I understand about the situation with the SDS requirements for your handmade cosmetics. Have you already contacted Seller Support about this specific issue? If you have, could you please share the case ID?

If you haven't reached out to them yet, I recommend contacting Seller Support first to open a case. They can provide more detailed information about why the SDS exemption form was rejected.

Kind regards,

-Josh
