Amazon Kicking Sellers Out From Premium Beauty Brands to Take Over the Listings Themselves!

Amazon launched a massive campaign to remove all sellers from Premium Beauty brands and started to sell those brands on their own? The list of brands includes D&G, Davidoff, Clinique, Mugler, Viktor & Rolf, CULT 51. On listings for those brands all of a sudden all the sellers get kicked out with no warning so Amazon can take it over and raise the price by 50-100 dollars. It also obviously gets rid of ungazing for those products. Recently, we were trapped with tens of thousands of dollars worth of Davidoff recently and were wonder if Amazon could at least have the decency to give a listing closing warning? Or maybe there is a warning I am missing. How can I make sure this doesn't happen to other brands I sell. There is a listing our team has been looking at that we would need to send 8000 units+ per month. But after what just happened to us with Davidoff I'm not sure if I can trust that this listing won't get closed down as it is also in the premium beauty category. If someone has any information about some warning we are missing please let us know.

I am so sorry. Amazon is doing some crazy things. I do think it will come back to haunt them when the government clamps done.

Were you authorized by Davidoff to sell their products on Amazon? If so, why not contact your rep with the company and see if they can help out with your issue. Not sure about Beauty items, but many categories of legitimate wholesale items can be returned to the distributor if sales don't work out (probably a bit of a cost, but not a total loss).

Ditto for any other brands.

"How can I make sure this doesn't happen to other brands I sell."

The simple answer is YOU CAN'T!

As @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrw asked, do/did you have an LOA from the BRAND(S) involved allowing you to sell on Amazon?

Thousands of hours reading the Forum shows that Amazon makes changes all the time with little regard for sellers.

IF you have an LOA ask your sales rep if the brand(s) whitelisted their items and did not have you on the list.

If you don't/didn't have an LOA this is a self-inflicted wound -- the handwriting for brands being restricted has been on the wall and written about in the Forum for well over year!

Hello @Seller_oYbOAhKsTYEHe,

Thanks for the feedback, and I understand the frustration.

Amazon requires approval to sell in many categories, brands, and products and in some instances restrictions and policies change.

While you may have been approved in the past, as the Amazon catalog grows, we continuously make new determinations on which products should be restricted, which is based on a number of factors. Amazon does this to ensure authenticity and customer satisfaction.

At this time, the only way to be able to list these items is if there is an option to apply to sell through Seller Central. To do this, go to Catalog>Add a Product. Next, find the ASIN you would like to sell and then apply to sell if there is an option. This policy is available in the Products that require approval help page.

Have a great day!
