Random inventory got sent back to me, the reason says "Overstock" what does it mean?

So I got a bunch of random inventory that Amazon sent back to me in one big box, these items are all NOT returns, and they were not requested by me to be returned, I saw in the paper slip in the box, the reason says "OVERSTOCK", what does this mean? Does Amazon randomly send you back your inventory if they deem there to be too many units of it? My inbound limit still has tons of space to send in, so it is not like I have reached my inbound limits. Anyone have this happen to them as well?

They don't RANDOMLY, only unless its been there 12 months, unless you have changed the settings to send it back sooner

Hello @Seller_YWE1ke6CXiPzN,

This is Ka from the Forums Community Management team. I hope you are doing well.

We appreciate that you've posted and shared with the community your question of getting back inventory due to overstock.

As @JPart2 mentioned in their reply to your post, there are two ways that you can receive your inventory back from Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA).

1. Manually; is when you create a removal order yourself and ask Amazon to send it back to you or have it disposed. Please check the help page, Remove inventory from a fulfillment center for detailed info.

2. Automatically; is when you set up or configure automatic removals for your inventory. Please check the help page Remove inventory automatically and follow the instructions to verify if you already have this enabled.

Last but not least, we always recommend checking our Remove inventory (overview help page) to familiarize with the type of removals that you can do and setup, the process, timeframes, fees, and restrictions about removing inventory.

We appreciate your participation in the forums, and we hope this info will help you clarify your concern.

Best regards,

Ka
