Can i Create Amazon Dummy Product Listing
Hi All,
I need your suggestions as I am preparing to launch my first product, which will take some time to produce. In the meantime, I am considering creating a dummy product listing using the actual product name, title, description, bullet points, keywords, and UPC Code.
The purpose of this dummy listing is to open a case with Amazon Support and have request them review it to ensure it complies with their policies—especially since my product is in the skincare category. I want to avoid any restricted keywords or violations that could affect my account health.
Can you confirm:
If I can create the dummy listing with the original product UPC code?
If the dummy product listing can later be updated to reflect the actual product details?
Or, do I need to delete the dummy product listing and create a new one for the actual product?
I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this process.
Thank you for your time and support!
Best regards,

You can't create a dummy listing. Once you create the listing and have inventory it is live (If you are doing FBM).
This is of course if you have submitted everything you need to submit to Amazon. Company name, credit card, address, etc. Sorry It's been so long since I've done that I don't recall what the procedure was.
Your best bet is to go the individual seller route instead of professional seller and there will be no fees. You can update to professional seller at any time.
Then just zero out your inventory so nothing will be "live".
Regarding opening a case with Amazon to have them review your listing to see if it is in compliance with there policies, well they're not going to do that or be of any help. They will send you a link most likely to Seller University.

I doubt seriously that they will "review" anything before it is an actual listing. They are very adept at finding problems and suspending AFTER the fact. NOT so good at preventing problems in the first place. If Amazon was interested in prevention, they would require a basic exam BEFORE sellers were able to open a selling account. They don't and won't because they get $40/month from all the accounts that will eventually get suspended.
Amazon is NOT a site that offers hand holding at all. Sellers are expected to KNOW everything required before they start selling here. It is not a good site for learning about what can be said about your products.
Unless you have been selling on other sites for quite some time, this will be a roller coaster for you. What can and can't be said for products in that category needs a lot of guidance from (among other things) regulatory bodies.

Good Morning @Seller_EldX9YBXspTbT,
If you create a dummy ASIN with your items UPC, you will not be able to reuse that UPC and you will be required to start all over with a new ASIN. Therefore, you should create your product how you intend to sell it, ensuring it's compliant when your listing is created. Amazon Seller Support cannot confirm if your product is compliant, as it's up to the seller to ensure their product is compliant, as you are the expert of the products you wish to sell. If you would like to sell your item, ensure that it is compliant with the skin care listing.
I am attaching a guide on how to successfully launch a new product written by my colleague @Michelle_Amazon.
Additionally, I am adding the help pages for skin and beauty care items compliance below:

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions regarding the information shared above. Have a lovely rest of the week.
Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon
