UPC Exemption Not Approved
Recently applied for brand registry for my brand and was approved. However, GTIN exemption has not been approved for me, UPC Exemption Not Approved. Attempting multiple methods, but unable to apply them. Unable to add a product without product ID, requires me to purchase UPC code. I have opend case: ID 14537246691, however it didn't solve my problem.

Why don't you want to use an UPC? These codes gives you an additional protection from hijackers because they are directly connected to you as seller. Only from GS1!

Hello @Seller_8bgokc5ugNRwF- thanks for the post! Danny from Amazon here to assist if I can. I took a look through that case ID and do see the application for a GTIN exemption was unsuccessful. While this could have occurred for multiple reasons, I would recommend checking your product and application against the following list, taken from the 'before you apply' section of this help page:
"Product name and a minimum of two (and maximum of nine) images showing all sides of your product and the packaging of the product. Ensure the guidelines below are met:
- The brand name entered during the application process should be an exact match to the brand name available on the product or packaging.
- Images should be real-world photos of the products and packaging, meaning the product and packaging need to be held or placed on a table while taking the photo.
- Branding is permanently affixed on the packaging or product.
- Products should not have a GS1-approved barcode available on the product or packaging of the product. If a GS1-approved barcode is available, you can use it to list products instead of applying for a GTIN exemption."
I'll also share this walkthrough video on GTIN exemptions in case it proves useful, but might echo the sentiment of @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iAC's comment above, in that UPC codes can help brands be better protected, as the brand controls the UPCs used in listings. Can you help advise why a GTIN Exemption is needed in this case?
