Working on initial Amazon set up

We are new to Amazon. We have been selling online for 20+ years directly from our website. We build and design our own products. We sell hundreds of some of our products and just a few of most of the other products. We have never had a GTIN. Now I see that one of our vendors is already selling three of our items on Amazon. A few questions - Should we apply for the GTIN exemption, we make the products ourselves and have our own brand? How do we address the couple of items that are being sold by a vendor? Their product page of our product is not very informative.

Hello @Seller_qkHRTxLqMDJ9O,

Thank you for your response. Welcome to Amazon and to Amazon Forums! Listing requirements: Product IDs (GTINs)

For most categories, you are required to provide a unique product identifier, known as a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number), to create new listings.

The following are the most commonly used GTINs in the Amazon catalog:

  • Universal Product Code (UPC)
  • International Standard Book Number (ISBN)
  • European Article Number (EAN)
  • Japanese Article Number (JAN)

The specific GTIN required for product page creation and matching varies by category. The requirements of each category, including exceptions and exemptions where available, are summarized in the table on the Product ID (GTIN) requirements by category Help page.

If you have your product ID, but are having difficulty adding your product, or if you can't find your product ID, use the following tool.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Cheers,

Micah
