Books not being acepted by Amazon for sale
WE have been selling on Amazon since 1998 and have a problem we can't figure out. Every day, we upload books to Amazon and some of the books are not accepted for sale. These are not books that have no ISBN or ASIN; these are not records listed as Inactive because of pricing, or because we have to acquire permission to sell, or that are restricted . These are books that other sellers are selling, often in lesser condition and more expensive. An example- we uploaded a book , used in Very Good condition, with a price of 90.00. There are currently 3 copies listed- 2 listed as Used-Good for around 198.00, and a Used- Very Good copy for (gulp) 622.38. Yet my copy was not accepted. Just wondering if any other book dealers experience this, or if anyone can give us a hint as to why this happens.

According to your handle this is your first post here. Either you just migrated or have not been paying any attention to the Forum.
If you search the Forum at all you would see all the posts about publishers gating their entire catalog of titles and long time sellers being cut off.
There are also posts about Amazon glitches, but the whitelisting issue seems to be more likely these days.

Was it "not accepted" due to a pricing error?
Or was there another reason? Perhaps you need approval for that publisher? (I get that quite a bit, but I enter one at a time, not in bulk)
I quite often have books that I am unable to list at a proper price, getting a "High price alert" even if there are other sellers listing for far more. The bots tend to check only when you create or edit a listing, so the listings that were around before that ISBN started getting checked are generally safe. Also, the "reference price" can sometimes change, if it's based on recent sales (but not, apparently, if it's a 50 year old "list price"). In some cases, I've had books that I could not list due to the price being too high, but was able to list them a month or two later for the same or even higher price.
It's a massively messed up system (and should be illegal IMO).

It's not clear to me what you mean by not accepted. You are saying that it is not restricted and you do not have a pricing error.
When you go to manage inventory, is the listing showing inactive? If you could provide an example ASIN that would also be helpful.

I don't do anything by upload, so I have no idea how that works, but have you tried listing any of these books manually...just to see?

What do you mean by "not accepted"? That is too vague for us on the forum to help you. Like you submit the item but then it doesn't appear in your inventory? Or you are gated by the brand? Or you get a high-pricing error? Please elaborate.
Are you using the Seller App or the desktop form?

When you say "not accepted" - can you please be more descriptive in what you mean by that?

Just like everyone else, I would love to know what you mean by "not accepted". There are a lot of reasons why we are unable to list some books. @Seller_kIukTwdhvntApand @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrwcovered most of them. I would also like to know, how are you listing?
When it comes to selling books anymore, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Amazon is making it increasingly hard for us booksellers. My personal theory is that since they now own ABE books, they would now rather all booksellers to migrate there, but that is just my theory. That being said, I sell on 5 different venues through Art Of Books. I'd say probably up to 30 to 40% of my listings don't show up on Amazon. I've been lucky enough not to hit with too many warnings and haven't been deactivated for any reason. I'm not saying this is for sure the safe way to go but it may be easier than trying to figure out what Amazon will and won't let you sell.

We have encountered the same problem for several years. Some titles are randomly rejected/unavailable for sale, while other titles by the same authors published by the same publishers are allowed to be listed for sale. It does not make sense and the seller support is not helpful.

Though we've been approved by nearly 300 publishers, we continually must deal w/ the book gating process. It's subtly changing- we used to be approved on our record. Now most publishers demand a purchase from them or an approved distributor.
Other day, we attempted a 1963 Lippincott title, a publisher we'd been approved for several years ago, now a part of the Dutch textbook consortium Wolters Kluwer. Lippincott is now Lippincott Williams & Wilkins-perhaps a reason we had to be reapproved?
But the approval was for Maman, which must be a(Dutch or French) distributor. The ways of book publishers are convoluted/bizarre-and often done in near secret if not one of the Big 4.
I couldn't locate a thing on the internet for Maman except a couple of restaurants and a popular cookbook, linked to the Paper Source-but that's not a distributor either. I'm not sure Lippincott has 10 different American titles, which they demanded we purchase to be approved.
Literary blackmail-that's what it is!! And all because AMAZON sells books as well as provides the platform-and must stay in good w/ the publishers to maintain their near monopoly!!

Whenever you do a bulk upload, certain publishers are flagged by bots. Even though you have previously been approved to sell certain publishers, the bots are reading a whole separate script. You have no access to the inner workings of amz. Simply request approval for titles not accepted. For those that require invoices you don't have, move on.
