how to change amazon ltl shipment destination?

My warehouse is in Ontario and Amazon is telling me I need to send a skid to Alberta... Can I change the destination to a warehouse that is closer to my warehouse in order to save money on shipping?

Hello @Seller_WrogeP6OS3T49

Christine here from Amazon Forums.

Unfortunately, sellers cannot choose or change their assigned fulfillment center destinations.

Amazon's fulfillment network uses advanced logistics algorithms to determine optimal inventory placement based on multiple factors including:

  • Projected customer demand in different regions
  • Current inventory levels across the network
  • Storage capacity at each facility
  • Overall network efficiency

While I understand shipping costs from Ontario to Alberta can be significant, this placement is part of Amazon's strategy to ensure fast delivery to customers across Canada. The long-distance shipment helps maintain proper inventory distribution so we can fulfill Prime delivery promises.

Some tips to help manage these costs:

  • Consider partnering with carriers who offer discounted rates for regular shipments
  • Optimize your box/pallet configurations to maximize shipping efficiency
  • Plan larger shipments less frequently rather than smaller frequent ones
  • Factor these shipping costs into your overall pricing strategy

If shipping costs are consistently challenging your business model, you may want to explore using multiple warehouse locations or consider seller-fulfilled options for certain regions.

Hope this helps explain our placement system!
