Is "Date First Available" on a listing not necessarily accurate?

Can someone from Amazon confirm that the "Date First Available" on an Amazon listing is the day the ASIN is assigned and not necessarily the day a new product is launched?

Like if you created a listing with a SKU and GTIN to get the ASIN for packaging, used placeholder info, set the Product Site Launch Date to a future launch date - the "Date First Available" on Amazon is still listed as the day the ASIN was created, not necessarily when the product is first publicly shown and sold?

Hello @ELEVAT,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I am happy to assist where I am able with your product information question.

Do you already have a case ID with Seller Support that provides the specifics of what you are trying to identify or at minimum the ASIN you are you are questioning and I can research.

I do not want you to provide Seller Specific information here in the public forum so it would be helpful to review what is going on via an already created case.

I did pick a random ASIN from one of your Brands and see that the Date First Available show on the listing page is later than the ASIN creation date that I can see. This doesn't exactly answer your question so I am hoping to get more specific stuff from a case.

Looking forward to assisting further.

Best, Dougal

"Date First Available" on Amazon is still listed as the day the ASIN was created. Yes absolutely.

The product in the image I'm showing is one of my products. I never finished making it, and I never sold it on Amazon.com. When I go on the listing, it will show that the date first available is the day I created it: November 7, 2021.

There are two significant benefits to the current system. Firstly, the ASIN is linked to the barcode when you make your packaging. Secondly, applying for a trademark will show that it has already been used across the state line, making the trademark process more affordable.
