NEGATIVE TARGETING & ORGANIC SALES

Hello there,

I have a theory that when I do negative targeting on search terms that are relevant to my products but they cost me money (high spend) with no conversion whatsoever, my organic sales seems to dropping.

Can anyone help to clarify this? And what should I do with those search terms that has High Impression, High Clicks, High CTR, Relates to my products, No conversion.

Thank you.

Hi @Seller_rfDstds0Pt3tW,

The presence of a negative targeting campaign alone will not affect your organic sales. Your organic sales can be affected by many things such as search ranking and organic discoverability, as well as general changes in customer shopping behavior.

If you find that your campaigns are lacking conversion despite optimized keywords and targeting, you may need to take a step back from the campaign side and look at your listing quality. I recently posted this thread on how to get started with ads and Step 2 is all about ensuring your detail pages are optimized and ad ready. I would take a look at these Amazon Ads resources below for more information about to ensure your detail pages are "ad ready."

Let me know if this helps clarify things. The resources I've linked will help clarify some of your questions as well.

I have not found this to be true.

I have found negative keywords to be helpful when optimizing and reducing costs.

But how do I choose which search terms to negative? Can you kindly give me suggestions/criteria on how to negative them?

This is why data is so valuable because it is research and trial and error to optimize.

My situation is I have 5 brands with similiar products but each brand has its own niche and I dont want to pay for a baseball hat when the customer is searching for a welding hat. These are just examples but you can see how adding baseball as a negative keyword to a welding hat ad campaign would reduce those costs.
