How to stop returns via UPS

Hello,

Previously all my returns have been sent via USPS, the same method used to ship them. My last 2 returns, including one in transit, have been returned via UPS.

I sell clothing, so an inherent high return rate.

The completed UPS return cost me an additional $25 in additional "adjustment" shipping fees (and was an item-swap fraud on top of everything) and I don't know what the additional charge will be for the incoming return, if it manages to get to me.

I use a PO Box for my business address (non-negotiable), which obviously doesn't take UPS returns.

How do I manage to keep returns via USPS, or is this the end of my Amazon career? Return rates already reduce profit to almost non-existent, I can't add in an extra $25+ fee even if it is only some returns.

This was a previous problem that was addressed....now it has returned. I am getting returns via UPS and the package weight is 6-7 lbs when the item itself weighs 10 oz. It shipped out via USPS and the return is via UPS. The label amount charged to us is $16.72.

Now, today I even get a FBA return and the same issue. Sent via UPS and the package weight is 7 lbs. Again, this should be returned for 1 lb or less, not 7 lbs.

I cannot file a Safety Claim because it was not FBM. Can mod look into this please? The return ID is

Hello @Seller_SYZxl9lNCdhvA and @Seller_Z9BVf4uRvGAhJ

I am following up on your questions about prepaid return labels.

Prepaid return shipping services

UPS and USPS provide return shipping for seller-fulfilled orders through Buy Shipping services.

USPS First Class mail ships most items under one pound and UPS Ground ships items from 1 to 150 lb.

The most likely reason for the carrier adjustment on the return shipment is that the return address is not eligible to receive UPS shipments and a $22 address correction fee was added.

EXACTLY! I just spent second day each time one hour on the phone with UPS rep to no avail.

This needs immediate attention from Amazon.

Returns can not be processed by UPS when there is a PO box return address.

I have it, it's been my return address for the past two decades. And it's gonna stay.

I have a special account with USPS for return packages so they charge my account when there's a postage due on a return package and I don't have to go to pay & pick up a package during a daytime business hours but I stop there at night after I deliver my packages to a loading dock and have my end of the day worksheet scanned and stamped.

Amazon MUST NOT let customers print out the return shipping label with UPS!!!!!!! when return address is PO box!!!!!!

Return packages are a big multi-million business and UPS wants a piece of it even though they are fully aware they will not be able to deliver to the PO box. Yet this fact doesn't stop them from accepting and scanning the packages with PO box return address.

Hello @Seller_5vTM5FEFYrdSV

I am following up on your question regarding prepaid return labels being issued for PO Box addresses. Sellers do not have the option to select a carrier for their prepaid return labels, as covered in our help page linked below. However, some sellers who originally reported issues with UPS labels being issued for their PO Box return addresses posted updates that this was no longer the case, and UPS labels were not being issued for their returns.

This still continues to happen, we are being hit with adjustments after each and every return, for inaccurate data UPS is stating each package was. For example, UPS is stating the return was oversized. It was a BOOK. Amazon provides the dimensions and weight for each return, therefore it is Amazon's responsibility to audit what UPS is charging back. It is not the sellers responsibility. Legally to follow the process, the postage is also PURCHASED THROUGH AMAZON.

Please look into this as it will significantly affect what we offer on Amazon going forward, as Amazon has the highest return %.

@Seller_tbhGCn42mvdf2

Can you please share more details about where you are seeing an "oversize" carrier adjustment for your return shipments? Were there differences between the label weight/dimension and the carrier audit? Have you filed a support case disputing these adjustments and including details that your original shipping labels are accurate?

Carrier shipping correction charges are charges that originate from the carriers and that Amazon passes through to sellers. Any disputes or issues for these adjustments must be submitted to Amazon support and not directly to the carriers.

We opened cases for the adjustments on each return and were told the following as an example. When a customer returns an item, they do NOT enter dimensions or weight, these attributes are provided by Amazon. Keep in mind these were books being returned, and the Amazon rep told us that UPS stated each package was oversized, which is not true.

"Customer Entered Dimensions: 11.22 X 8.7 X 1.54 IN | Weight: 63 OZ Carrier Audited Dimensions: 11.22 X 8.7 X 1.54 IN | Weight: 4 LB Other chargeback: -$0.25 Other chargeback: -$2.07 Other chargeback: -$6.07 Other chargeback: -$6.15

Further investigation indicates that you were charged for large package surcharge. According to UPS, for domestic shipments, a package is considered as a large package when its combined length (longest side of the package) and girth [ (2 x width) + (2 x height) ] exceeds 130 inches, or its length exceeds 96 inches."

Make this make sense...

Any update on this? UPS says they will no longer deliver to USPS PO Boxes, even if it's street addressing PO Box. They said this went into affect on Jan 1st.

How do I set my Amazon FBM returns to only offer USPS labels?
