Not being Allowed to change Product Title

Hello,

I want to change my product title and tried using the "Title, Bullet and Description Update" feature in the "Get Help" section.

I get the following error:

You are not qualified to change the Title.

Please provide the suggested new product information, which will be communicated to the brand owner.

I have the brand registered through brand registry and so, I am the brand owner.

Any Idea on what this could be and why this might be happening?

I've dealt with this for more than 2 years now. I had one situation which required over 15 different Amazon support persons to deal with the issue. After much back and forth with a Senior Amazon support person he gave me some real insight. If you've EVER had Amz Support make any changes on your Asin no matter what it might be the changes are flagged in their system and you get identified as requiring their assistance from now until whenever. Even now I still have to go through them to get changes in place. So, long story short you will have to "unfortunately" deal with Amz support to make the change. Just ignore comments about socks and whatever, just be prepared to prove you are the brand owner...the quickest way to do that is hold the product in your hands and take a picture then send that long with your website info if you have one. Once you make solid contact you can have them either release your Asin so you can work on it or provide them with the info to make the changes...and keep in mind I create my own products and have over 30 of them on Amazon right now so having them intervene is frustrating but unless you know another way...this is about the only way to get the changes done.

It is possible that Amazon is restricting title changes due to the listing being originally created under a different account. Even though you have brand registry with admin rights linked to your current account, if the product listing was initially created by another account, that original account may retain control over certain changes, including the product title.

To resolve this, you should first confirm if the product listing was indeed created under a different account, which might have been managed by you or another entity like a distributor. If this is the case, you need to access the old account to make the necessary title changes. It's advisable to delete the listing from your current account before updating the title and other desired changes in the previous account.

this usually happens when you have FBM and FBA... the FBA could be borrowing the ASIN from the FBM or vice versa... only the original listing has full rights....

i accidentally made some original listings FBA.. later iI swill switch the original back to FBM...

originals can edit but non-originals asks permission even though you are the owner.

non-original item listings can only make suggestions then the suggestions get relayed to the original post then the brand ownce can appriveapprove such suggestions...

bypass all that headache by finding the original post and making edits from there.

I am assuming some people hijack a listing via suggestions and owners rapidly approving suggestions without reading them

Re-upload the listing:

Menu - Catalog - Add Products via Upload

Make your external product ID value your Amazon ASIN when submitting.

If you don't know how to do an upload, try youtube tutorials. If you get confused, I can try to help you out.

It looks like you are receiving a lot of different solutions for a lot of different problems. All of them are valid in one way or the other but none of them quite fit your scenario. Based solely on what you have told us the problem here is that Amazon is not connecting this listing to your brand registry. All other issues aside, this has to be addressed first before you can move forward.

Believe it or not, even though your account has brand registry Amazon's system sometimes "loses" the link between your brand registry and your items (in other words, they no longer link your account as having permission to make the changes). It's stupid, but it happens. I have personally seen it hundreds of times with hundreds of listings.

In 60% of cases if you delete the listing from your catalog, wait a day, then add it again using a file upload (use all the same info but change your title to what it should be) this will typically take care of the issue. I fought this at first cause it sounded ridiculous but in most cases it actually will help reconnect things. Make sure you download a copy of your Category Listings Report BEFORE you delete the listing.

What happened and why does this work? Blame it on Amazon's AI. When the AI attempts to make a change it thinks it has priority. However, as a brand registered owner you have a higher priority than even seller support so it causes an error - the AI is fighting your own submissions and your listing gets stuck in a loop. Long story short, your listing gets disconnected from your brand permissions. To "break the cycle" you have to delete the listing from your catalog which allows the AI to make it's update. When you add it again your permissions should be reinstated and you should be able to make your changes (and by using the category listings report you should revert any changes the AI tried making).

Now, I did say 60% of the time. Sometimes there are deeper issues that can only be solved by a good seller support agent (good luck on that quest).

All this to say...Amazon has a REALLY bad system in place and it causes a bunch of problems for sellers. But, here's a solution that should hopefully get things working for you.

Hi there @Seller_2o36nxQr01uoh,

I'm sorry you are having difficulties with making changes to your Brand Registered ASINs. It is possible that the ASIN isn't properly associated with your Brand. Additionally it may be that you may be trying to change the detail page in such a way that is not compliant with the Product detail page rules. If you reply with your most recent Seller Support Case on this issue I can review to see what options exist. Thank you for your understanding.
