Two-factor authentication will be required for Seller Central sign in

Starting as early as March 28, 2024, you’ll be required to verify your identity using a mobile number or authenticator app when you sign in to Seller Central. This keeps your account safe from fraudulent access attempts.

If you don’t already have a mobile number or authenticator app set up for two-step verification when you sign in, you’ll be prompted through a registration process to add a mobile device. If you prefer to not receive a one-time password over SMS every time you sign in, you can go to "Login Settings" to register an authenticator app for two-step verification.

An authenticator app is recommended for accounts with several users and can help when you’re without cell service.

Great - now fix the issue where it throws an error when you request your code and you're locked out of your account for days while support says "it will resolve in 24 hours" over and over again.

Because I'm still waiting for the 'upper level support' to answer why I can't get my coworker her access because of this, and it's been this whole week (some 24 hour resolution), and I just pray my computer doesn't do the random requirement of me having to log back in because if that happens, we won't be able to access our account at all.

Are we permitted to add a second cell number to our accounts?

While I think this is annoying, I hope Amazon doesn't force a phone number. I've been trying to phase out use of a phone number, ideally I want a data only sim & to use the internet to communicate with people. Way to much spam with phone numbers & scammers calling.

I assume it will, but hopefully it'll allow 2FA with an authenticator code.

Phone numbers for account verification suck, what if your out of the country & don't wanna pay an arm & a leg for international service, there are SIM swapping attacks, honestly no online platform should ever ask for a phone number. They aren't encrypted & its possible to man in the middle them.

Plus they can be spoofed & people can make it look like their calling from any number they want. We should all stop using phone numbers. Their obsolete & honestly just a security & privacy risk when so many other better options exist through the internet.
