What is Sale Start Date and End Date?

Hi everyone,

While I were creating the Amazon listing, under Offer, I was required to to fill up:

1 - Your Price

2 - Sale Price

3 - Sale Start Date

4 - Sale End Date

5 - Offering Release Date

From my understanding:

1 - "Your price" is the normal price I would like to sell on Amazon.

2 - "Sale Price" is the price of my product while I am doing the promotion.

3 - "Sale Start Date" is the date I start the promotion.

4 - "Sale End Date" is the last date of my promotion.

5 - "Offering Release Date" is the date when I start the promotion, same as the Sale Start Date.

Am I correct?

One more question: Why does Amazon ask for Sale dates? Do we have to agree to do the promotion when we just listed our product?

If Your Price = Sale Price, Can I randomly pick a date as Sale Start Date and choose the next date as Sale End Date? I have to fill up these two dates, otherwise, there will be an error.

Hopefully someone could help me.

Thanks a lot.

I have never filled in a sale date field. Ever.

If you put a value in one field (price, start date or end date), then you must put a value in the others.

But you may just leave all the Sale fields empty.

Nor have I ever put any value in offer release date.

Again ... correct

When you create a listing, you do not have to have a "Sale Price" in the beginning ... just leave it blank and the system will not give you the errors of needing to fill in the Sale Start Date and Sale End Date.

There are three prices on a listing.

  • Your Price which is what you will be selling the item for normally. - must enter one for
  • List Price which is the price that the manufacturer suggests the item should be sold for. - must enter one
  • Sale Price is when you want to put your item at a discounted price from the normal Your Price. - does not have to be filled in

I've run into a glitch where I accidentally put a price in the "Sale Price" box; deleting it to leave the field blank doesn't work; the system still requires entries in these fields once you've edited any one of them.

So what I've done in this case is enter a sale price 1 penny lower, with start day today, end day tomorrow. Makes the system happy.
