Magnet issue

B0CC2W2VCY I am thoroughly confused by the magnet compliance policies. I sold a men’s bracelet. There are 2 small magnets on the clasp. These are completely glued to the clasp in a niche of their own. Are they saying these small magnets can be pried completely out by someone(a child no less), swallowed and be in the exact please where these 2 magnets can have enough magnetic flux to injury bodily tissue.

This child safety is the whole point of the US compliance. I have spent time and money pulling these off the shelf because my compliance wasn’t adequate.. there are a lot of different bracelets with magnets, so I would like to be able to carry some of these to sell.. but I just don’t understand the logic on this, and if I am even correct in my comprehension of this because it’s just so silly to me that it makes no sense. You can’t swallow the whole bracelet and you would literally have to have an ice pick and pliers to get the magnet out. Please help I need to understand this for future dealings or potentially bringing my product back. My manufacturer said they never run into this.

I have been dealing with this for months. I contacted Blake above and he said that I have to be in compliance and I have to provide them the proper documentation. It is apparent that nobody has read this product compliance law as it is issued for the US.

It’s stuck in programming when additional logic must be added. Or the compliance team doesn’t have common sense to differentiate. I’ve been dealing with this for five months and finally given up. You can’t argue common sense, it’s clear that this magnet law for jewelry to do with the fake piercings for mouth jewelry that people were putting in their mouth. I couldn’t get the madness out of my bracelet if I beat it with a hammer for five minutes. I am all about child safety, but also about being compliant in the proper way.

I would love to speak to somebody who actually knew the law and isn’t just following their job. I’ve read this US compliance like 10 times. Adult jewelry is not the target of this compliance. Good luck, I took all these off the shelf in October. Still have them sitting at home collecting dust so I attempted to try again appeal. Once I brought it back up into the system now I’m getting suppressed on my listings again.

Like I said, the law is extremely vague regarding jewelry. it states that the intent of this law is regarding mouth jewelry that was secured by magnet.

it seems that they have just decided that if it’s jewelry and there’s a magnet in it whether it’s so secured that you can’t even get it out of the bracelet and the bracelet can’t be swallowed-that they are accepting a potential scenario where a child can grab a hammer, beat each of two magnet out of metal that is completely epoxied Separate them both from the magnet and then swallow them both at the same time where these two magnets would enter the body and damage the body tissue exactly the same area in the body. And on top of that, over 90 percent of the past 20 years of magnet swallowing has been from these toy ball magnets that just roll around and can be picked up and eaten at will.

good luck and I hope it works out for you. I’m going to follow the thread. Maybe you’ll get some rhythm with it.
