Tax Info Issues (EIN)
Hello.
I am attempting to set up tax information and I am getting the following error:
"The Name and Tax ID provided do not match IRS records. Please review your previous inputs and ensure the "Name" line is the correct name associated with the Tax ID provided. You should complete the tax information for the individual or business that will report the income on a U.S. income tax return. If you are completing the tax interview on behalf of a single member LLC, generally the owner’s Name and Tax ID would be provided."
Everything matches.
Please advise.

Hi @Seller_SlEFzrtHMvw6r,
Looking at the Tax Interview FAQ here, under the "I received an error message" section, there are a few key things to check:
If you're filing as an individual, the name needs to match your Social Security card exactly - including middle initials if they appear on the card.
For a business, you'll want to use the exact name that appears on the top line of your CP575A notice from the IRS.
And if you have a single-member LLC, you have two options:
- Use your personal SSN and name as they appear on your Social Security card, or
- Use your business EIN and the exact business name from your CP575A notice
The help page mentions that even small differences like misspellings or missing middle initials can cause the validation to fail. Unfortunately, Amazon can't tell us exactly why a particular validation fails, but double-checking these exact matches is usually the best place to start.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
Best regards, Michael
