Issue: Buy Box Not Restored After A-to-Z Claim Resolution
I am a seller on the Japanese Amazon marketplace, but since I haven’t received any responses on the Japanese forum, I am reaching out here for support.
Case ID: 2960722213
Since last Friday, all of my listed products have lost the Buy Box (Feature Offer).
Upon investigation, I discovered that about two weeks ago, an A-to-Z claim was filed, which caused my Order Defect Rate (ODR) to exceed 1%. This was my first A-to-Z claim.
However, I processed a full refund the day after the buyer initiated the refund request. I also appealed to Amazon Seller Support, which resulted in the claim being resolved on the same day. Within a few hours, all of my performance metrics, including ODR, returned to normal.
Despite this, my products have not regained the Buy Box.
- For products with multiple sellers, I am still not winning the Buy Box.
- Even for products where I am the only seller, I am not winning the Buy Box.
- In the Inventory Management screen, a green checkmark confirms that my products are eligible for the Buy Box.
For example, I am competing with just one other seller on a particular product:
- My price is cheaper.
- My delivery time is one month faster.
- The other seller has only one feedback and this feedback is negative.
Yet, I am still not winning the Buy Box.
This makes me feel that there is something wrong with my account health, rather than just Amazon’s algorithm.
Additionally, I noticed that for the A-to-Z claim, Amazon’s system recorded the refunded amount as ¥4,987 instead of ¥4,999, which might have affected the claim processing. Seller Support mentioned this is related to Amazon Points, but I’m not sure if this discrepancy has impacted my account.
It has been over a week, and I have received no clear solution from Japanese Seller Support.
My sales have dropped from 10–15 orders per day to 0 orders for the past week, and I am feeling desperate.
My Questions:
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Is there a known delay in Buy Box restoration after an A-to-Z claim?Could this be a system glitch, or is my account flagged in some way?
I would really appreciate any help or advice!
P.S. to the forum moderators: I just want confirmation on whether my account being ineligible for the Buy Box is justified, or if there is some system issue affecting my listings.

A lot of wasted writing and copy and pasting of Mod Names.
The Featured Offer (Buy Box) is not a right or a given. It is like the old Clairol TV commercial used to say, "Only your hairdresser knows for sure". Now just replace the hairdresser with Amazon. It is run by an Algorithm Bot that giveth and taketh away.
In addition, Amazon uses this as a ploy to entice sellers to use FBA but remember this. There can only be one Featured Offer for each unique product. Sellers seem to enjoy it when they have it and then complain when they do not. However, when a seller is disappointed with the loss of the featured offer, they seem to forget, another seller is happy with that loss, because it is their gain.
Give it six months.

Doesn't matter if the A-Z was resolved or not - the algorithm still takes in account that a claim was filed, regardless of the outcome. You'll probably have to wait 30 days give or take to get Featured Offer back.

Once a buy box is lost, it can take up to 30 days to get it back.

Here I will tell you some secrets about the buy box algorithm, from over the years I kind of learned how it operates. When you get an A to Z claim, or in general any kind of violation that goes over the required percentage rate (ie late shipment etc) if it's your first offense in the year in certain section like odr section, when your rating clears up you have to wait approximately 3 weeks to regain buy box, for the next offense, when you rating clears up you get buy box within a week, then 4 days etc. Good thumb rule is to make sure to leave space for cases like this so sell more small stuff to keep up with your ratings if you don't want you sales to suffer.

Same thing has happened to me a few times. Even if you win the claim, it still takes a few weeks for the buy box to come back. Seller support will be no help.
