Amazon OTP that I don't request

Hello Fellow Amazon Sellers,

I keep receiving OTP requests that I do NOT initiate. I've changed my password, but I am still receiving these texts randomly. No one else in our company is initiating them either. Should I be concerned? It doesn't appear that anyone has been able to access our account. Is there something I should be looking at in our account that is allowing some random person requesting access to our account? Any thoughts on this or concerns you would raise if this continues? Or changes that should be made to our account for security purposes? Who would I even report this to? Any guidance is much appreciated.

Hi @Seller_OTfqoLfIVsT1o

Thank you for bringing this security concern to our attention. Receiving unexpected One-Time Password (OTP) requests is indeed a situation that warrants careful attention. Here's some guidance on how to proceed:

Immediate Actions:

  • If you haven't already, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account.
  • Review and remove any unauthorized users or linked accounts.
  • Check your login history in Seller Central for any suspicious activity.

Additional Security Measures:

  • Ensure all team members are using unique, strong passwords.
  • Consider using a password manager for your business.
  • Regularly update security questions and answers.

Reporting the Issue:

  • Open a case with Seller Support, specifically addressing the security team.
  • Provide details about the frequency and timing of these unauthorized OTP requests.

Account Audit:

  • Review all authorized devices and browsers in your account settings.
  • Check for any unfamiliar applications with account access.
  • Verify all email addresses and phone numbers associated with your account.

System Check:

  • Run a full malware scan on all devices used to access your Amazon account.
  • Ensure all devices and operating systems are up to date.

Monitor Closely:

Keep a log of when these OTP requests occur.

Watch for any changes in your account that you didn't authorize.

While it's reassuring that no unauthorized access seems to have occurred, persistent OTP requests could indicate that someone is attempting to access your account. It's crucial to remain vigilant and proactive about your account security.

Have you noticed any patterns in when these OTP requests occur? This information could be helpful when reporting to Amazon's security team.

Best regards,

Connor
