How much does "Buy Shipping Protection" cover?
Hey all. I am a Seller-fulfilled shipping seller looking at shipping an item which is valued at $299.99. Declaring the value of the item doesn't seem to make a difference in the price of the shipping. Typical USPS coverage is up to $100, so I am hesitating to purchase through Amazon.
The item is a camera lens which is being shipped from mainland US to Alaska. I am considering paying the extra for Priority because it will fly to as opposed to going by ground/container that will take 15 days.
I am concerned that something may go wrong in terms of damage or loss and wonder if Amazon will cover the full amount should something go wrong. I always make sure my items are packaged very carefully so as to reduce damage. And I always make sure I get a scan receipt when I drop items off. So will Buy Shipping Protection cover the full declared value?

My bad, declaring the value actually increases the price by $1.35. Is this the same as extra insurance?
