Tax Exemption lost due to warehouse shipping address in another state

Hello Everyone,

I filed for tax exemption last year and and when working with my manufacturer through Alibaba, we verified my order processed with no tax with no issues. My business is registered in the state of Florida, so when the shipping address was recently changed from my business address to the amazon warehouse address to ship the order, I lost the exemption as it is in Tennessee and now looking at an added $1200 tax. Is there a way to avoid this? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

1. I thought to have it shipped to me, then i ship to warehouse, but if there is a way to not have to do this, I wanted to reach out for guidance.

2. Tax write off: Great, but not nearly as beneficial as the tax exempt.

Sending your product directly to Amazon without examining it first is a recipe for disaster. Plenty of horror stories here in the forum about this.

I am not sure why you would not pay the import taxes regardless of where the product is being delivered. Tax exempt normally refers to sales tax on purchases. Would love the details on how this works so we can do this ourselves.

I have great communication with my manufacturing staff as we communicate frequently and utilize pictures, videos, etc, and I also have the items inspected to verify the products, labeling, and packaging are to my liking and meeting Amazon standards.

I am paying for import taxes, I am referring only to sales tax exemption.

you are purchasing items from China...what sales tax???? No matter what state they deliver it to. Sales tax is for the end consumer. Who is billing you for this "sales tax"? Your perfectly good Chinese Alibaba seller?

The tax was not applied until they changed the shipping address last night from my business state to the warehouse address outside my state causing the sales tax to post.

My seller is not applying the tax, Alibaba is because my tax exemption was filed for one state, and my order is being shipped to another so as soon as the address was changed the system autogenerated the charge.

Sales tax is billed even if within the states which is why I submitted for the resale tax exemption. Unless you are within the 5 states that do not apply sales tax or they are not a tax exempt state, the tax exemption is filed to avoid being charged this sales tax.

Please listen.. I clearly do not agree with it so I came on here for help and am trying to see if anyone else ran into this issue to provide perspective or guidance.

I'm also in the same situation and would like to know how you proceeded. Did you file for reseller permit in Tennessee or is there a better way. I'm also the new seller and I am worried that with different shipment, Amazom might ask to different states and I have to go for getting reseller permit in all those states.
