I'm a seller from India, and I sell products on both amazon.com.mx (Mexico) and Amazon.com (USA), with shipping originating from India. Typically, when international buyers make a purchase, they should see custom charges displayed before completing their purchase. However, I've encountered an issue recently where a buyer on Amazon.mx didn't see any custom charges during the purchase, but they were later charged customs fees upon delivery. This has happened before as well, and now the buyer is requesting reimbursement.
I find it perplexing because I've shipped products to other countries like Belgium through Amazon.com, and customs charges were prepaid and displayed correctly. It's specifically on Amazon.com.mx where this issue seems to occur. I'm seeking assistance in understanding why this is happening and how to address it.

When a buyer orders from the platform of their own country (Mexican resident ordering from Mexican site / Canadian resident ordering from Canadian site / USA resident ordering from the dot com site) -- they must never be faced with any sort of import duty / customs fee. NEVER.
When an item is sold on the dot com site to a non-US resident, then the buyer is responsible for those fees.
If you ship from outside of Mexico to a Mexican resident who ordered on the Mexican platform -- you must prepay any duties.
