There is no benefit of a trademark via IP accelerator vs one which is filed on our own?

Hi,

I am starting to wonder if there is any benefit to apply for a trademark via IP accelerator vs. doing it on your own.

Amazon claims that additional enhanced brand benefits apply to pending trademarks via IP accelerator, but this seems to be exactly the same as when anyone would file the trademark themselves and just input the application serial number in the brand registry? Both would unlock the enhanced brand benefits immediately, while still in pending status.

I have two pending trademarks, one filed myself and one via IP accelerator. So far, I can't see any difference at all regarding brand benefits? Both still don't allow to report any trademark counterfeits.

Did anyone notice the same? Why is it called accelerator if nothing is accelerated or enhanced?

there's really no difference if you know how to do this on your own.

it's just a better way (I guess) for new sellers but much more expensive.

Hello @Seller_wQDtX2g1aSZV9,

This is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and thank you for posting your question on the IP accelerator program benefits/if there are any.

As @Seller_v95qqMBLFluEx (thank you) alluded to, it can be a better choice for sellers that are inexperienced or want an assist in the trademark registration process and/or want to ensure they are appropriately establishing their intellectual property. Another benefit is pre-negotiated maximum service fees with vetted law firms in each country that trademarks are accepted from to enroll in Brand Registry or to add an additional Trademark in another country.

For any other sellers finding this thread, you can find more info and the steps to start onAmazon IP accelerator.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Dougal
