Letter of Authorization to become Brand Owner of current listings

CASE 13673349531

trying to become the brand owner of 4 asins already listed on Amazon. I did not create the listings therefore I cannot change the listings. the brand is not registered into brand registry because the brand does not have a trademark. the brand has been in business for 42 years and does not need a trademark. how has someone become brand owner of the listings if not registered in brand registry and why can that be me? I have a letter of authorization from the brand owner giving my company complete control of their products on Amazon. I am currently the only one selling these products now but someone keeps changing all the information and pictures along with the brand name, etc. Don't Amazon want the listings to be correct and with the right information for the buyers? Why cant brand registry help with this and resolve it?

Do you have UPCs? If they have GS1 registration you should be able to use that for Brand Registry and get control over your listings. A trademark is also the brand name, not always a logo. Text and/or image brand registration. The brand should have something to give them rights for the brand name (you can search the international database and check if they do) add this with your rights as the brand reseller for Amazon and it should give you control over the listings, regardless if you made them or not. It might take a bit of fight at first through brand registry and flat file updates but it can be done.

In this day and age, especially on Amazon, you want to be brand registered or risk hijacking. Unfortunately, it seems the hijackers are able to bypass all the rules and change listings.

the brand OWNER is the only one authorized to enroll in brand registry and the brand must be brand registered. They need an Amazon account to enroll and THEN they can give you control over that account

Hello @Seller_uNASCtVphO2od,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team. Apologies for the delay in my response as I was out of the office and am catching up. I see that Amazon Brand Registry Support responded on 9/7/23 that your requested changes to the ASINs was accepted - awesome and happy that is out of the way.

I read the letter you attached regarding the suspected issues from the owner and it is unfortunate what had happened.

I agree that enrolling in Brand Registry is the best way to ensure incorrect changes are not made to the ASINs. Unfortunately, one of the requirements for enrollment in Brand Registry is a trademark.

I recommend reviewing the Protect and build your brand video located on the Brand Registry landing page. This will provide a bit more detail into how Brand Registry can help protect the brand. Also, please review all the eligibility requirements and FAQ's for more info you can share with the brand owner.

Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best, Dougal
